In the beginning...
I have owned Bull Terriers since 1985 when I purchased my first Bull Terrier, who was from the Silverwood winning Westbrook Kennel of Drue King. The bitch was extremely well bred being by UK and US Ch. Catrana Eyeopener of Aricon ex Silverwood Winner Ch Westbrook Windborne ROM. Sadly, she died young, before I was able to breed from her and my breeding program commenced a year later with three bitches; Ch Iffinest Tourbillone, a Polytelis Silver Convention double granddaughter, Ch Madelyn Theresa Nautilus, an Aricon Chief Eyeshy and Meregis Jackknife granddaughter, and “Betsy”, Banbury Bon Chance of Bedrock, CGC, royally linebred on Ch Banbury Bellringer, ROM.
Since 1988, I have bred 35 litters under the affix “Corsaire” and have produced multiple Champion, Performance, and ROM titled dogs, as well as seven Silverwood Finalists, including my most successful dog to date, Am./Can/Mex/Eng Ch Corsaire Chrome Hoss O’Tearock ROM. Chrome Hoss won the 2003 Lovell Trophy (Runner-Up to the Silverwood Trophy) before traveling to the UK where he became the first US bred Bull Terrier to obtain an English Championship, as well a Terrier Group 1st at Birmingham and several Group placements in Ireland. “Gryff” was also awarded the Oppenheimer Claret Jug for Best Male Bull Terrier, 2005, and was co-winner of the 2005 Pedigree Award for Top Bull Terrier.
I began judging Junior Showmanship in 1995 and was approved by the AKC to judge Bull Terriers and Miniature Bull Terriers in 2000. Since that time, as well as judging in the USA, I have judged in England, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, France, Romania, Holland and Scotland.
In addition to my judging and breeding activities, I served as New Member Chair for the Bull Terrier Club of America for 10 years, have been extensively involved with BT Rescue and the BTCA Health Committee, and served two years as the Editor of BARKS, the three times per annum magazine of the Bull Terrier Club of America. I have worked for the Judges’ Education Program, and the Mentoring Committee, and served as the Chair for the Breeder’s Education Committee. Currently, I serve as President of the Bull Terrier Club of New England, and the Show Chair for the Bull Terrier Club of America.
I adhere to the BTCA’s guidelines for ethical breeding practices and all my dogs are echocardiogrammed and BAER tested, and kidney and patella screens are carried out annually on breeding dogs and bitches. I am an AKC Accredited Breeder.
I joined the Leonberger Club of America in 2019 when I was offered my first Leo puppy, and I am very proud to say that she has passed all the required health tests of the LCA and been awarded a CHIC number from the Orthopaedic Foundation for Animals as part of her pre-breeding screen.
